Timothy “TJ” Thorn

TJ Thorn pic1T.J. Thorn is an independent musician based out of Georgetown, Kentucky. As a person of faith, he has spent the last twenty years as a drummer/percussionist supporting various Christian bands and ministries in Kentucky. While primarily focused on Christian Worship, he also had the opportunity to play and record with a diverse group of musicians encompassing many genres such as Rock, Country, and Southern Gospel. In addition to his worship activities, he has had the opportunity to teach many students over the years in private lessons as well being a percussion instructor for high school marching bands. And over the past several years he has had the opportunity and great honor to be the drummer for the Kentucky District of the Assemblies of God Worship band at their annual conferences.

TJ had an affinity for music in general and drums in particular at an early age. Other than the love of his family and faith, playing drums has been a constant love and passion. He officially began playing drums in the 5th grade and continued through high school. While in high school he received numerous awards including the All American Hall of Fame and John Phillip Sousa Awards. While he didn’t play drums in college he continued performing locally with various ministries.

TJ currently plays for Wind and Fire Worship Ministries and Flight 16:10. In November 2009 he will be leading a clinic/workshop for local worship drummers in Central Kentucky.

Why does TJ play Sonor drums? “No matter what musical situation, whether it be in the studio or live, my Sonor drums always sound phenomenal. Not only do they sound great to the audience but they sound just as good from the drum throne. What could be better than an instrument that sounds just as good to the musician playing it as to the listener?”
